Highly Commended in APRA Professional Development Awards 2011

March 20th, 2011 | By Angela

The APRA Professional Development Awards are held every 2 years, and award a prize package valued at over $25,000 to eight emerging songwriters and composers. At the Awards Ceremony on Monday 14 March 2011 I was honoured to be one of only two people Highly Commended in the Category of Film & Television amongst literally thousands of entrants and  32 finalists in my category alone!

Here’s a photo of me with winner Caitlin Yeo and my fellow Highly Commended friend, Geri Green at the Awards Ceremony (all graduates of the wonderful AFTRS!):

ArtStart grant

December 20th, 2010 | By Angela

I was recently delighted to receive the news that I was the recipient of an ArtStart grant from the Australia Council for the Arts. This grant will allow me to travel to the USA to attend an orchestration course, also to do a mentorship with an incredible film composer who I have admired for a long time, and also to get some new musical equipment to make my creations even better! Thank you Australia Council!

‘Little Princess’ is from the Ophelia of the Spirits EP, and is available for purchase from iTunes, or from the Discography section of this website.

No Dice Hollywood

February 20th, 2010 | By Angela

I contributed some original music (watch out for the ‘Exorcist Dice’ moment!) and other musical suggestions to this short film by Paul Watters, which was a finalist in Tropfest, a massive achievement!…. and before anyone asks, no, I didn’t do the show tune music at the end :)
