Composing & Singing in New Aerial Show!

April 27th, 2011 | By Angela

BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW TO SEE ME PERFORM LIVE IN SYDNEY AS PART OF AN EXCITING NEW AERIAL THEATRE SHOW, ‘EARTH ANGEL’ FROM 20th – 24th SEPTEMBER!

Finally, Sydneysiders will have a chance to see me performing live in an extremely special production over 5 nights from the Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th September.

Over the past few months I have been composing the music for ‘Earth Angel’ – a mystical physical theatre production that uses dance, spellbinding aerial circus and live song to depict an otherworldly love story set amongst an epic battle between the forces of Light and Darkness.

I will also be singing live in the role of the High Priestess Angel alongside the cast of 14 incredibly talented aerialists, dancers and acrobats.

This original production is directed and devised by Maggie Kelley and features dance choreography by Marko Panzic,   who was a choreographer on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’.

It’s difficult to describe the wonder and magic of the combination of live voice, music, and movement that happens here – so you will have to come and see it for yourself! You can book tickets below. Shows start at 7pm, (with also a 2pm matinee on Saturday) and tickets are $30.

Here’s a photo of me with winner Caitlin Yeo and my fellow Highly Commended friend, Geri Green at the Awards Ceremony (all graduates of the wonderful AFTRS!):

Festival of Lights, New Zealand

January 27th, 2011 | By Angela

In January 2011 I was invited to cross the Tasman and perform a solo show at the Festival of Lights in New Plymouth, New Zealand. It was magical!

“At night, fluorescent pebble paths sparkle beneath excited feet, majestic trees and plants glow, waterfalls and lakes shimmer and shine beneath a myriad of lighting displays. Each year, selected areas of New Plymouth’s magnificent Pukekura Park are transformed into a magical and mysterious wonderland that attracts more than 150,000 visitors to a spectacular theatre of light.”

Here are a couple of photos!

I was recently delighted to receive the news that I was the recipient of an ArtStart grant from the Australia Council for the Arts. This grant will allow me to travel to the USA to attend an orchestration course, also to do a mentorship with an incredible film composer who I have admired for a long time, and also to get some new musical equipment to make my creations even better! Thank you Australia Council!
